THE MESSENGER

This song has a special meaning for me.  I’ve always known that the songs and stories I write aren’t truly mine, and that they come in the form of gifts to me, but it took me quite a bit of introspection to be able to ‘label’ my part in the play.  I now know that I’m the messenger… and I’m comfortable with and grateful for that.  This song was born during my period of introspection.

UNCONDITIONAL LOVE

UNCONDITIONAL LOVE

I wrote this song in Aspen, some time ago, and I remember rushing over  to The Great Divide music store (the best music store in the world, until it closed) to let my good friend Sandy Munro hear it.  I believe I recorded it on an old-style Walkman, as I didn’t have anything else with me at the time.  As I recall, he thought I might need to lower the key, but my producer didn’t agree so it is as it was written.  I hope it speaks to your heart.
